TCA’s First Veterans Day Ceremony to Honor America’s Greatest Heroes
The Classical Academy students and staff will honor America’s greatest heroes at our inaugural Veterans Day ceremony on November 11, 2014, 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. President Wilson officially made November 11 Armistice Day, a day we honor the soldiers who died for our country. We now call the holiday Veterans Day, and we still celebrate all Americans who risked and still risk their lives for our freedom. Always remember, freedom is not free.
The following is a list of events that will happen during our TCA Veterans Day ceremony:
- The students of TCA will give snapshots of America’s past through memorized poetry, songs and speeches.
- Special guest speaker Reverend Jim Hawkins, who enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 16 and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II, will offer a reflection. For his gallantry he received two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star.
- Four amazingly talented TCA teachers will sing the Star Spangled Banner for the school.
- TCA will show a video of TCA family members and friends who have served and are serving to defend the rights and freedoms we hold so dear.
